Type Locality and Naming
Arunachal Pradesh, named after Bhareli valley along Balukpong- Bomdila road between Pinjoli and Sessa. Lithology and Thickness
Sandstone and claystone. Grey to dark grey feldspathic sandstone and grey to black carbonaceous shales with lenticular coal beds. Upper Member: Feldspathic sandstone, black and carbonaceous shale with thin impersistent lenticular coal Lower Member: Arkosic red sandstone-siltstone and black carbonaceous shale with impersistent lenticular coal; 2800 m. Its thickness is about 4050 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformably overlies the Bichom Fm.
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the Abor Volcanic Fm.
Regional extent
Easternmost Lesser Himalayas. Bhalukpong-Sessa section in the Bhareli Valley.

Fossils
Plant fossils are: Glossopteris longicaulis, Gangamopteris sp., Glossopteris sp., and G. indica Schimp. Maithy et al., (2006) reported Gangamopteris cyclopteroides , G. intermedia, Glossopteris augustifolia, G. communis, G. damudica, G. intermittens, Scutum cf. stowmanum, Vertebria indica, etc from the Bhareli Formation exposed between Pinjoli Nala and Sessa along the Bhalukpong-Bomdila Road, West Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh.
